Did my boyfriend fancy the girl he was having sex with?

I was seeing somebody for over a year,he had my name tattoed on his finger than i found out he had something going on with this girl who he had known for years.They used to text everyday and they would have text sex,they would exchange naked pics and he told her if he could be with anyone,it would be her ,even tho he was with me,He would pick her up after he finished work and i found out they started having sex outside but had to stop because somebody turned up.He denied everything but i found the texts etc.I finished with him and 4 weeks later he started seeing her and sleeping with her after he told me he hated her.Hes known this girl for four years so im thinking there must have been some feelings there,i still think of it all the time.Do you think he had feelings for her?fancied her?there were times they would just drive and talk and they didnt do anything else?
