Did I test positive for HSV(Herpes)-1 because of my gingavitostomatitis?

I was reading somewhere that the reason I tested positive on my herpes 1 test because I had gingovitostomatitis. I never had an outbreak on my lips or anything, but I did have all of the symptoms of gingovitostomatitis. Is this why I tested positive for herpes?
