FROM INVOICE:
Customer states car died while driving on the hwy and would not start.
Tech confirmed that car runs. No power from battery. Car needed a jump start. Tech determined after starting car the drive belt auto tensioner pivot bolt had sheared off and broke. One end of the bolt is stuck in the engine short block. Theu auto tensioner and water pump pulley are both damaged.
===VIN stat shows SB 09-007 has been performed ===
Tech drilled out broken belt tensioner pivot bolt. Tech replaced damaged tensioner, water pump pulley and belt. Confirmed repairs OK.
MY NOTE: Honda Civic 2006. The mileage was 42,217 and all oil changes and recommendations were done professionally by Honda dealers. Have it fixed under the POWERTRAIN warranty. Scared the heck out of me since it died suddenly on busy highway.
Did they fix it properly by DRILLING out broken belt tensioner pivot bolt? Or they just temporary fix, so the car can run for awhile until my powertrain warranty pass 60K or 5 yrs? Is this a common problem since my car only reach 42K miles? Luckily, I was not hit and my baby was not in the car with me at that moment. Thanks.
