Yes and no. Many of the Nazis were actually Roman Catholic. And, the Roman Catholic church is big on pageantry and the belief that some items may be sacred (like the shroud of Turin). I think that when you lose a war, the victors are going to wish to paint you any way they wish. Saying that they were somehow devil worshipers makes it easier to hate them.
