Did God Lie to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden?

God said that they would surely die if they were to eat the fruit.
Satan said that they would not surely die.

Adam and Eve were kicked out of the garden, and died natural deaths, though fruit was not the direct cause of death. It seems more that God had killed them.

I am trying to find answers and responses to this question. I have already considered and rejected the concepts of a Spiritual death and a Natural one.

The question is why did the fruit not kill Adam and Eve, why did God not be clear as to the cause of death?

"Did God tell a lie?"

Again I stress that I am looking for fresh and unique justifications and not the weak word twisting of a spiritual death nor a natural one once being stripped from immortality.

I would love to hear your unique responses.
