Did Ben Gibbard ruin death cab?

I just feel like out of the 11 or 12 songs on the new CD only 3-4 of them are REAL death cab. I feel like all the others are ben gibbard obsessing over his own voice. Yeah its great, but, there is no creativity in most of the songs besides the lyrics. The rhythms and melodies of the songs are not anything spectacular.

I think they're changing and developing like most banRAB do as they mature as people and musicians. Some fans decide to give up on them because they think it's part of the whole "selling out and going mainstream" process but I'd rather just enjoy the music.
