I was just diagnosed with prediabetes. I am normal weight (5'6, female, 135 pounds). I could probably exercise more, so I know that I need to do that. I rarely eat fried foods. I actually have a pretty healthy diet. Diabetes runs on my dads side of the family, but everyone who gets diagnosed is overweight if not obese and they have eaten crappy their whole lives. They also always get diagnosed at an older age, 50 and above. I'm only 27.
Should I buy a monitoring system and prick my finger everyday? Also, do pre diabetics need to keep glucose tablet with them? I have no idea what I'm doing!
I have an appointment next month with a new doctor who hopefully can educate me on this, but in the meantime, I would like some help from anyone that knows anything about pre-diabetes.
Thank you
