Diagnose me...

I got it

For the past year, I have had really strange symptoms. I have been to the ER and multiple doctors but still not sure what is wrong. Just wondering if anyone has any insight into these symptoms. I feel like I have a disease that has remained undiagnosed.

1. Tightness in throat/Lump in throat feeling. Originally diagnosed as acid reflux. Put on PPI's but they did not help. After a year of this, i was finally diagnosed with esophageal dysmotility. A mild case where the esophogus does not contract as fast as it should. I have read this could be caused by an underlying disease.

2. Shortness of breath from little to no exertion. This usually goes along with heart palpitations. I have an high resting pulse rate. Have had pulmonary functions and oxygen tests and all was well. No asthma or lung problems. Also, had a chest xray. Dr. put me on beta blocker for high blood pressure and high pulse rate. I have not started taking that yet because of other symptoms such as dizziness.

3. Over the past year, I get "spells" where i get lightheaded brain fog feeling. It usually only lasts a day or two but now has lasted for a solid week. Again, last time this happened about 8 months ago, I went to ER and had a CT scan, xray and heart monitor. All results normal. This time, my eyes feel funny too. I feel like I can't see as sharply as before and have tunnel vision feeling. I get lightheaded when I sit down and walk. Feel very disconnected. This makes it hard to drive and work. Probably should go to ER and check it out but everything always tests OK. I did have my eyes checked a few days ago and nothing wrong there.

4. I have a weird muscle spasm near my bottom lip. It will happen several times a day and it pulls my lip to the left for a few seconds.

I know I have PCOS and High blood pressure as well as the esophageal problem. What else could this be? I have had my thyroid tested and all normal. I am 37 year old female and not going through menopause as far as i know. I am most concerned now about the heart palps and really concerned about my vision/lightheaded issue.

I know you said you have had your thyroid checked, but this sounds like it could be thyroid related to me. Do you have a copy of your lab work? If not, I would suggest you get a copy and post the results on the thyroid board. There are tons of people that are told their thyroid tests are "in the normal range" but actually have a thyroid condition. The doctors don't seem to be very knowledgeable about the lab results.

You may be a hidden hyperventilator. Try rebreathing in paper sack 5 minutes every hour for a couple weeks and see if that helps.

You can do close to the same by taking a normal deep breath and exhale very, very slow.

Most doctors do not recognize hidden hyperventilation and the patient does not recognize they are hyperventilating. This can cause the symptoms you are having.

Just a shot in the dark, took 10 years to find a doctor who knew what my problem was and the paper sack was the prescription, it worked.
