Hi, I've had my deviated septum surgery about two years ago, and although it has improved air passage through my nose, it is nowhere near the level that I expected. I still constantly experience a mild sort of congestion in my nostrils (the kind where you can still breathe, but it feels like you're not getting enough oxygen), and sometimes one side is completely blocked off. Although this has been an improvement to my condition before my surgery, the constant congestions are really frustrating. Regarding this, I have went back to my surgeon and an ear-and-nose specialist, but they insist that the surgery was successful, and the congestion is due to my allergies causing inflammation of my nasal passages.
I don't know why, but I just do not trust doctors (one reason might be, prior to my deviated septum surgery, several doctors that I saw simply said my nose was completely fine, and it was ONLY due to the allergies) I was wondering, should I just go to a different doctor for another analysis of my nasal problems and request an X-ray, or am I overthinking this, and it truly is just allergies? If so, are there any ways to treat it? I have heard of nasal irrigation solutions, should I try those?
P.S. Sometimes I feel a shortness of breath even though I am breathing through my mouth, or even (rarely) when both of my nostrils are unblocked. This clears up after I take some antihistamines (Reactine). Could this be my allergies acting up and narrowing my airways? Or do I really have asthma?
