Details of changi singapore prison camp, WW2?

My great granddad was the leader when they opened up this war camp and i was wondering of any details about the camp. All I know is that is was horrible and he never talked of it as it was sooo disgusting =(.

Also i understand there was a sword of some kind there that my great grandfather took and was allowed to keep. Apparently it is famous and worth 40,000 pounds. It's lost now though =( anyone know any details? x

P.S. I am extremely proud of him so please no offensive answers x
Ummm why mean? He freed the prisoners that had managed to survive?
 
even though thats kinda mean and gross of him, it's actually really cool that he was the leader of something important in history. I would probably be extremely proud of him and be mad at him at the same time if i were you. :D
