new guy here, in serious pain, lower back, lurabar pain, for about 2 yrs now.

unknown cause (no physical trauma)

have had 2 X-Rays
an MRI
3 steroid injections
physical therapy
many chiropractor visits

one of my dr.s says its spondylosis

NSAIRAB dont work
on 40 mg/day hydrocodone and a muscle relaxant(little relief)
still in pain most of the time, about an 8 on the pain scale.

I want answers and want to be able to get better and not have to be on pain meRAB my whole life. begining to feel discouraged, and my judgement is compromised due to the situation.

Hi-

Spondylosis is where there is a pars defect (fracture). From what I have researched, that alone shouldn't be causing that much pain, and most people go on for years with out even knowing about it.

I have Spondylolisthesis, which is the next stage of Spondylosis. Because of the fracture, it is causing my L5 vertebrae to slip forward and my spine is very unstable. I am waiting for surgery.

Can you describe your pain for me? Mine is all across my lower back, in my left buttock, left groin, down my left leg, and lately I have been getting left sided headaches. Also, half the time both of my legs ache.

How many opinions have you gotten? It sounRAB like more than one. When was your last MRI? Maybe you should get a new one.

P.S. Stop going to the chiropractor! They have their place, but I don't think it is smart to have one adjusting your back when you don't know the cause of your pain. If there is indeed a fracture, the chiro could make your problem a whole lot worse.

I have stopped going to the chiro. and Spondylosis doesnt sound right to me, but i have no idea.

another sympton i forgot to mention was im Constantly popping my back.

The pain is kind of hard to describe, it doesnt travel anywhere, just concentrated in one area, my lurabar.

at times its like a throbbing pain. Its not sharp, but a very dull, tense or pressurized, stiff ache. it never stops or leaves, im in pain ALL the time.

imagine you have pain in all your extremeties, now transfer all that pain into a single spot in your lurabar.

the MRI was pretty recent so a new one wouldnt help much. i cant afford a new one now anyway because i lost my health ins. due to my detiorating productivity at work. this pain is ruining my life. ive really only gotten one opionion, but have seen 3 doctors. my family doctor a, a pain doctor, and a back specialist.

a fracture of my spine? how does it heal? and is it possible to get that without any trauma?

the pain is definatelly serious it feels like a fracture, but couldnt a fracture be seen on an x-ray, which i had two before my MRI, and they both looked fine..

Hey! I know exactly what you are going through. I feel so bad for you. I don't know about you but the doctors I've seen (4 total) make me feel guilty for asking for help. None of them will help me, they treat me as though I'm a pain med addict right off the bat and they want to just start experimenting with other useless drugs. They won't offer me any long term solutions. They basically all tell me the pain is going to only get worse HOWEVER.... they won't treat the pain and these are the pain management doctors!! What are we supposed to do then? My quality of life is less and less every month. I'm in tears with pain most of the time. If you or anyone else, ANYONE, has some advice or name of a great doctor in the dallas/ft. worth area it will be greatly appreciated! I don't have insurance because my company downsized, but I don't mind paying for GOOD back pain care. Thank you for your time and I wish everyone could be cured because this truly sucks! God bless!
