Desktop software and VersaMail conduit

I recently started using a Palm Tungsten T3 and while the Palm works great (except for VersaMail), the Desktop software is giving me some problems.

1) I had a previous version installed, but it is removed. I try installing the latest Palm Desktop software and the installation doesn't finish. I get "Status: Removing backup files" and nothing happens. I left it for over an hour and at first there is HD action, but then it stops. Finally, I click on the "cancel" button, but again, nothing happens. I click on the "X" and the InstallShield Wizard dialogue box won't close. Finally, I have to do a Ctrl/Alt/Del and close the application. Then when I try to "Turn Off" or "Restart", the "IDriver.exe" doesn't stop. I have to manually close it.

Palm Desktop then seems to be installed, but I have the problems listed below.

2) I'm currently using Eudora 5.2.1. Before I got my T3, I was using a IIIxe with Eudora's Palm software with the Palm Desktop 4.1 software and it worked fine. When I installed the new Palm 4.1.4, there is no VersaMail conduit listed in HotSync Manager. VersaMail is on the T3 though and I set up the accounts, but it doesn't sync. My CD doesn't have VersaMail on it or I would just try to install it.

3) Outlook usually has a problem where it says "A recently installed program may cause MS Office or other e-mail enabled programs to function improperly. .............Do you want Outlook to resolve this problem?" When I click yes, it says "Outlook was unable to resolve.......... To fix this problem, please restart Windows". Of course when I restart Windows the problem comes back.

I recently I did a "Detect and Repair" for Outlook. I also re-installed Eudora. I've un-installed and re-installed the Desktop software 3 or 4 times now with the same result.

Anybody have any suggestions what I can do to fix these problems? 2 & 3 seem related. Maybe they all are.

Thanks for your help.
