Desktop Hotsync Won't Stop

Hi--just did a routine sync on my tx and it seemed to take a little longer than usual. Monitor said "backing up" and the handheld said "cleaning up". After 10 minutes of this stuff, I canceled both the monitor and the handheld hotsync. The handheld stopped after a few seconds, but the desktop is still cancelling even after one hour. "Canceling-this may take a minute". It is like the Eveready bunny, it just keeps going and going. I cannot access desktop because this is still canceling. I know if I shut down the desktop it will go away, but I don't want to have to do this everytime I hotsync. Suggestions?
Thanks
ps--HotSync Progress icon is still going---over 90 minutes.

pps--There was no hotsync log for this sync. On the desktop it said my last sync was a week ago. I know info was synced this time, but there is no record of it.

A hot sync will not log correctly even if information was exchanged if the hot sync was interrupted at the end via the method you described. I'd really be surprised if anything actually was sync'd over but not completely surprised. I've installed programs (which is the first thing to transport) and then get the device to hang and the program not be installed so normally if it hangs - it will burp and not complete and normally nothing is transported.

Take a look at the log and determine what's the last thing that syncs over - it's sometimes Docs to Go or some other item that has it's own conduit. You can turn it off to get a good sync and then a new log, if the problem continues.

As usual Moose, you have come through again. I turned off desktop and handheld, re-started, did another sync and everything transfered okay. The log did not mention any problems, so I will assume for now, all is in order. Time to hit the surf. Hope your move went ok MM, just have another beer to soothe that aching back.
Aloha....

Nearly all conduits are set to "sync" except one - Backup or System should always be set for Handheld overwrites Desktop - this takes the lastest system files from the device and backs them up to the desktop - and you almost never ( I can think of only one time in 10 years that I've set it the other way) to have the desktop overwrite the handheld (I did it as a test for a friend).

These newer faster computers sometimes will cause a Palm to hiccup during hot sync - if you continue to have issues I might suggest slowing down the hot sync max speed to 115,200 which can be done via the setup menu under hotsync and then local tab....but only if you continue to have issues. Otherwise - let it go for "as fast as possible". Have fun on the beach.

Move has gone relatively smoothly with only minor annoyances, which is usual.
