Desire HD - Mobile Network keeps saying Connection Failed?

Hi
On my HTC Desire HD, when I am not connected to wi-fi I go to wireless settings, mobile networks and it says connection failed.
But the internet will work if I connect to it, I can't understand why. Does anyone else have this problem?
