Regarding the cogito argument, couldn't one just claim that it is possible that the entire world in which we live in is only a dream world created by some being and we are only thinking in this world, but in the real world we don't actually exist?
I realize that it is highly unlikely, but that is not the purpose of the meditation. What he is trying to do is find knowledge that can be absolutely certain (meaning no possibility at all of being false) , which the cogito argument fails to do.
