Democrat Representative assaults student on the street for asking a question

Why would it matter what the "intentions" of these students were, unless you believe they were going to physically attack this congressman? Why does it make any difference whatsoever what their project was, or who they are?
 
this is the united states of america, at a institute of higher learning; not at a jailhouse. lets remember that. He should have not been arrested.

and the questions he asked were rhetorical leading up to the final one: was was he a member of skull and bones? Kerry felt it was important enough to answer the question. he wasn't afraid of it. The dude really wanted to ask a question that for all of its lol'ness, was culturally relevant as I am sure the Skull and Bones thing has dogged Kerry and I cannot think of any other time in which he was asked that question.




disagree. imagine what would our philosophers that we hold in such high esteem in america think about someone with a question in an open forum being silenced because their question took asked too many rhetorical questions to set up the premise.

I think it matters.

if there is no camera and microphone I think maybe the congressman answers the question. To a certain extent, I think the "every moment is potentially captured" actually is going to hurt this country in the long term. The term off the record has lost its meaning. When I interact with various government people in person they speak so much more candidly than they do in email or phone. One of the great things about the American people is their aptness for frankness and honesty. That is disappearing.

if the 'students' say who they are, and what they are doing, I think he answers the question. if they politely ask to do an interview on camera, I think maybe he complies. Back in the day, things had to be culturally relevant to make any kind of news. But with the new internet.....its different. I think politicians are terrified of the internet.

not that they shouldn't be terrified somewhat. I think things they do and say in interviews and at public events they should be accountable for. Like when the candidate misspelled Massachusetts and didn't know who Curt Schilling was. I think that stuff is most certainly fair game.


but to ambush someone on the street like that with the camera and not identify themselves? When no other evidence of the interaction exists and you are at the mercy of the person with the video tape to not edit it and send it someone who make it go viral?

That one dude who "exposed" ACORN got tons of notoriety from that incident- which he then coughed up when he attempted some real sophomoric buggery shit. maybe others would get motivated to land a politicians scalp under onto their belt? or maybe there was some financial incentive like what Larry Flynt did back in the late 90s?

It doesn't matter what the fuck you are doing. When the people with the guns and badges ask you to do something and you refuse to, then they are going to help you leave.
When you decide you're going to fight them about that, then you're going down.

This is the United States of America where we are civilized and have rules that everyone except idiots and retards follow.


As for the kids on the street, it's a public sidewalk. I can walk up to you with a camera phone and ask you a question and you can't do shit about it other than ignore me and walk on by.
You grab me though and you've broken those rules again. Do you have the right to know who I am? Nope. He could have politely said "sorry, no comment at this time" or "call my office to arrange an interview" but he broke the law when he decided to lay hands on another person.
 
sounds like abuse of power to me. If a police officer asks you to step back you should obey-- but you had better have a good fucking reason to ask someone to step back. not because you are asking a question that you don't like at an open forum.

the police are there because probably of some code they need to be there if there are more than what, 500 people there for the issue of public safety?

let the organizers dictate the rules on what is and isn't allowed.

again-- I bring forward the issue of the Bush criminal enterprise leading to the Iraq war. a situation where the nation spent a fortune, cost thousands of lives, destroyed our reputation around the globe and obviously faked their way into it......nope, can't investigate that

but a congressman puts his hands on someone...OMG we need to throw the book at him!

we want our congressmen to be treated the same as the rest of us. but find me a prosecutor that would give enough of a fuck to prosecute this were he an average joe and waste everyone's time.

spend 4 hours in court for a sentence of what, 1 hour community service? I doubt ding dong will press charges. they were pussy enough to not list their names or show their faces. hmmm.

if you're so gung ho about that, you ready to charge Obama and the current congress too since they haven't changed things. If there were war crimes from Bush, then that means Obama is committing the same war crimes. Ready to demand that investigation as well?

You have a real problem with blindly defending anyone with the letter D behind their name dude, I mean seriously, if you aren't trying to just be another troll then you need to sit down and really look at that.
 
He's a partisan hack. It took you this many back and forth's on this subject to realize this? If it had been a Republican or a Tea Party person, he'd be singing a completely different tune on a Congressmen assaulting someone on the street for asking a simple question.
 
its important because it was one of the worst decisions ever made, and somebody broke the law and leaked Valerie Plame's name. someone faked the documents about the Niger yellowcake. somebody ordered that. it is an obvious of a crime as this apparent "strangling".

I believe the Bush decision to lie into the war was treasonous. I don't think they should be in Iraq-- or Afghanistan. I think Obamas escalation in Afghanistan is a mega mistake.






dude has to press charges first. And, the prosecutor has to agree the case is worth pressing. and a jury has to find him guilty. it would be awfully hard to convict someone of assault when there is no evidence of injury. basically, its a waste of everyones time. the movie is what it is and will cause more punitive damage than anything the court can hand out.
