Dell Studio 15 built in web cam not working?

My laptop web cam suddenly has started to play up, I've had the laptop about a year and a half. Now it's not working, it either, completely doesn't show up. As if it's not plugged in. When it does show up when I attempt to use it it says that it's currently in use, yet I'm not using it. And other times, the light to show that it is in use is on, but once again I'm not using it. Thanks
