deleting browsing history?

I would like to delete my browsing history. In the URL box when I start typing the website it pops up a lot of suggestions of websites I've visited in the past, I want to clear these so I can start over with them. I went to the Tools tab, clicked Delete Browsing History, then I clicked on delete Temporary Internet Files and History. Then I went to the history tab on my favorites list. I right clicked on them then clicked delete. Even after all this, it still didn't get rid of the list of websites I've visited on the URL, how can I get rid of this?
 
This means that you have bookmarked/or added to your favorites. remove them and you wouldn't face this problem again.
 
tools, options, content tab, auto complete settings, uncheck the boxes. this is for IE,
for ff tools, options, privacy tab, uncheck the history box and set the days to remember to 0
also in IE, tools, options, advanced tab, check for the setting in there for browsing, uncheck the box for enable suggested sites.
