Degenerative disc Disease

My daughter (31 yrs of age). has Degenerative Disc Disease.... She has had two surgeries... in last two year.s now she is in the hospital... again... I feel so bad watching her suffer......

She has another disc going out, and so more surgery... she has 3 children.....

My heart and prayers go out to you, your daughter, and your whole family...Unfortunately, I also suffer from DDD and am quite uncertain of my pending future of failure and pain. I just turned 29 in October of 2007, and my body already feels all used up and ancient! Could you please tell us all more about your daughter, such as the length of time she has been suffering and what parts of her spine are affected? Please keep us updated about her (and your) condition!
 
I to suffer from DDD my whole neck is degenerated already been through 2 fusions, and now my lurabar area is being affected, it started for me in my mid 30's, and I'm now 43, so I'm in it quite a few years. She is very lucky to have a very caring mom and supportive family, my heart goes out to her, and let her now that we know what she is going through and my thoughts and prayers are with her during her upcoming surgery and recuperation.

I'm so sorry your daughter is suffering so much at such a young age with lil ones too. It touches me so that your here, she must have a very special family that cares about her. That will help here more than you'll ever know. To know that others love her and are happy to help her thru this.

I will be praying for your family. I hope she comes thru this new turmoil ok and has many many yrs of pain free life to spend with all of her family.

I have DDD as well, it is a terrible desease and you never know when or what disc it will pick next time. I have a two level failed fusion and somesigns that the level just above it may be getting worse now, I know how she feels only too well. Please tell her we are all praying for her & her family. I agree that if she were to get on here she would find some comfort in knowing we understand how she feels.

I'm very sorry to hear of your daughter's pain. I'm a fellow DDD sufferer and it began in my early 30's. I'm in my late 30's now and after therapy, injections, surgeries, etc. I ended up having a morphine pump put in that I'll have the rest of my life. I'm still in a lot of pain and can't work or do much of anything.
please know I'll say a prayer for your daughter, her children and your entire family. Maybe she would like to come to the board, it's amazing how much it helps to talk about it...:angel:
 
more about jennifer.... she had her last child almost four years ago that is when it started... her last sugery was L4 and L5 and roRAB were placed in her body lower spine.. she spent a lot of time in the hospital for 3 months. getting pain shots etc... or at the emergency room getting pain shots....

two weeks ago she had extreme arm pain and one hand turned blue so they atmitted her to the hospital and gave here an MRI. and the disc in your neck is going out now and she neeRAB surgery on that....
 
My heart goes out to you both. It is so hard from a parents perspective watching their child suffer with any illness. She is very lucky to have such a caring parent -- please encourage her to reach out and touch other individuals who suffer daily on this board. She will not regret it. This board has been the best mental therapy for me and has helped me during the low moment of my life.

Encourage her to come to this board as she recuperates. The people here are wonderful and helpful. There is always someone living through the same issues as you.

Sorry to hear that your daughter is dealing with DDD. I was diagnosed several years ago. I had surgery in Deceraber.
I hope things improve for your daughter soon, best of luck to both of you.

Good luck to you and your daughter. I started having problems in my late 20s and remeraber going through many dark perioRAB of feeling that life was unfair. She's lucky to have a mom like you looking after her and who knows what technology will be invented to help her and all of the rest of us. I have a lot of hardware my cervical and lurabar spine and like to think of myself as a bionic woman.

I'm so sorry to hear of your daughter's back and neck troubles. I can't imagine how difficult it must be for a parent to watch their child struggling. She's lucky to have a caring mother like you!

By all means please have her join us when she is able. I can almost guarantee that there is someone on this board who has been, or is going through, the very same problems.

At the top of this board are two stickies called "Less stress around the house" and "post surgery tips" which contain a lot of helpful info.

The last suggestion is to please take care of yourself. When someone we love is in pain, sometimes we overdo it.

Hi Caren... Question.. is this your only daughter? I have heard that DDD can be genetic, so I was curious if you had another daughter if she has DDD problems as well, or if this daughter is your only child?
My mom has DDD, and my doctor thinks that it is genetic. I have a sister that does not have back problems, and so far my daughter does not either, but she is only 17.
