My father-in-law is giving us 10 acres of land. The land is in his name, and we need to get it transferred. Can I use his deed as a template, fill in with the information that the surveyor gives us (coordinates, boundaries, etc.) and then take it to a notary where my father-in-law and I sign? Is it possible to do this without attorneys? I really need to save every penny I can get. I went to college for Paralegal Studies, but never pursued the career. I know the legal document formats.
