I have just the main question but also another.
1. What does it mean when a horse is "cinchy?" I think that's how you spell it. My physical therapist, who rides also, asked me today if I knew what that meant. I've heard the term tossed around before, but have no idea what it means. Now I'm curious, heh.
2. I posted awhile back about bad falls/injuries/experiences with horses if this sounds familiar to anyone. Long story short, I fell off a horse and tore my ACL and had surgery. It's been 3 months, almost 4, since surgery. My physical therapists say that with this type of injury, it usually takes about a full year to be fully recovered. I just visited my friend this past weekend and went to her horse show and was playing with her horse, and it really made me want to do something with them. I know I can't ride because my knee still needs A LOT of work. I'd really like to work around horses, via: ground work, cleaning tack, feeding, etc.
My worries: I could possibly get kicked, biten, or accidentally get pushed on my knee, fall, trip, and similar stuff. It wouldn't be great if I have a horse who goes crazy on me and yeah lol. I know horses can be unpredictable but I still want to get back working with them. I don't want to get it any worse. I am comfortable enough right now to be walking fairly fast withouth being in pain.
IF I do decide to do this, I'm going to really talk to my physical therapists about it, along with the doctor who I have up here ( he wasn't my actual surgeron, long story.) along with whoever might be hiring me and talk about my situation.
I'd like to hear some good advice, be great if someone was in a similar situation as me, to see what would be good. I'm just upset I can't ride horses for about another 8 months or so and I'm missing being around them.
Thanks in advance for the advice!
