So I've asked a few people and got a few different replies about how to respond when someone asks "Where are you from?" Some say it's where you were born, others say it's where you grew up. My friend who is Vietnamese says he's from Vietnam even though he came to America when he was 1. I argued saying that he's from DC but his heritage is Vietnamese. My uncle, whose wife was born in Germany, says that she's from Arkansas because that's where she grew up, but I argued that she is, technically, German because she was born in Germany. I only argued both points because I honestly don't know which is the correct argument. I know that if I go out of town/state and someone asks me where I'm from, then I reply which city I left from to get there. So please help me end this debate once and for all!
