Death & early termination fees

I have a family plan with Verizon, I am the account holder. My Dad, who was one of my lines, has passed away. How do I cancel his service and will I get charged an early termination fee? This is legit. I'm not trying to scam anyone.
 
I am not trying to make light of the situation at all. But I have actually quite often wondered about this before. I have never actually had to deal with it but have just wondered about it. I am kind of a weird thinker sometimes; thinking about morbid things and weird stuff sometimes.

For example I have been pondering this for a few weeks. Everyone knows those Scott Trade commercials with the guy flying around in Scott trade helicopter. What in the world is the point of that. The Etrade baby commercials make sence. But a guy flying around in a chopper to tell you about how easy Scott Trade is just makes me think they could have saved a lot of money. In turn maybe passing the savings along to their customers.
 
Make sure you have a copy of his death-certificate handy and then call Verizon.

They'll want proof (and maybe even the phone returned) but most companies will understand.
 
I have gotten termination fees dropped for a lot less than that. If you offer to fax a copy of the death certificate they will definitely let you off the hook. I would be extremely shocked if they gave you any trouble.
