Dealing with difficult cankersores

I seem to have some cankersores, 1 or 2 on the bottom of my tongue. I've been trying to use a product called miel rosada to take care of them, but it hasn't worked yet. Someone suggested I gargle water with alum balls. Anyone have any better suggestions? They've been under my tongue for 3-4 days, but it seems like everytime I talk or eat, something gets brushed up against the tiny sores.

Do you take L-lysine? You can get it where suppliments are sold. That and Kanka should do the trick. Take the l-lysine when you start to feel the kanker sores starting... Kanka you put on the sore itself and it coates it and numbes the sore. Good luck and I'm sorry!

Hi Trymester,

Try an over-the-counter product called Gly-Oxide. A lot of dentists recommend it and I've used it for canker sores and dental -procedure gum soreness for very quick healing.
It's a combo of hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide with glycerin which makes the hydrogen peroxide more stable, therefore it prolongs the antiseptic action of the peroxide.

It's used for canker sores and minor mouth wounds or gum inflammation. Some folks use it every day, routinely, along with brushing, to simply improve their oral hygiene. You just put about 10 droplets from the squeeze bottle on your tongue and swish it around with your own saliva for about 2 minutes.
Doesn't exactly taste like your favorite milkshake but hey- it works.

Great stuff. I just used it for a few days for a canker sore on the side of my tongue. All gone now, yay!

Hi Trymester,

I get canker sores on my gums occasionally as well as extremely painful bumps on my tongue. (Which supposedly are caused by varicella, the chicken pox virus.) In any case I personally just use Lysterine. It works for me within a day after using it for 30 seconds as directed. Also I usually try to limit eating sweets to keep from making it worse.

Good luck!

I agree with ibake&pray. The L-Lysine is what my doctor recommend for me when I've had tongue sores and I've talked to others whose doctors have recommended the same thing. You can get this in the vitamin and supplement section of the drug store. I also found there are certain foods which trigger sores on my tongue, such as pineapple, lots of spicy foods, and tomatoes. I eat them in moderation and get along ok. Try the L-Lysine and I think you'll have relief. Good luck!
