Dead Mans Shoes

Just watched this last night, a really good film. A modern day Clint Eastwood type film with a little twist that i only picked up towarRAB the end.

Has only one else seen this?

Watching it tomorrow, hopefully.

If Considine is anything like he is in A Room For Romeo Brass it will be a belter.

Class actor, and a great director in Meadows.

I have, and thought it was brilliant. It made me laugh, it made me cry and it's the kind of film that stays with you.

Instantly got added to my mental list of all-time favourite films.

Best film of last year, and probably the best DVD of this year. Someone has set up a Shane Meadows website (I can't remember the web address, just type 'Shane Meadows' into Google), and he posts on there himself, and he has talked about the film and everything.

Anyway, everyone should see it. I didn't predict the twist the first time I saw it, but it's one of those where you spot something new every time you watch it, which explains that bit further.

Finally got to see it, and I was blown away.

Considine is intense, the scenery beautiful, the story is clever, support acting was pretty damn good.

No-one neeRAB enticing, if you haven't seen it, you are missing out. I can't stop thinking about it.

No-one makes films of this genre like the British. No-one.

As a complete cynic of most films these days (and in the past tbh), I was amazed at this film.

I'd heard good things, but nothing can prepare you for how good it actually is.

And you can keep your b*llocks best actor awarRAB for the likes of Di Caprio and Hanks.

Paddy Considine >*****

Hello

I'm a huge meadows fan and have followed his work right from Small Time. I even used Paddy's 'weetabeet' speech to apply for a Sugar Beat Analyst job!

Could somebody tell me where to find this site that Meadows sometimes posts on? I've tried using Google, but no joy yet.

Thanks. I'm off to make a cup of tea now. I'll put some burgers on while I'm at it.

nah ,dead man shoes was just plain boring ,hired it along with 'control' ray liotta new one And 'the forgotten' .
DMS's was the poorest effort

Dead mans shoes was the surprise movie release of this year for me so far, i thought it was really good. Not a big budget movie, but like lots of film four movies, surprisingly good. Anyone ever watch sexy beast ? That was a good film four movie too.

Go on, it is well worth buying Dead Mans Shoes !

Interesting and surprising comments. I wanted to like this film so bad, but Dead Man's Shoes was easily one of the worst films of the year.

It's a revenge film. How can you mess up a revenge film? It's the most simple thing to do, set up a believeable motivation for the main character and watch them go but too often what little story there was didn't make sense and the characters didn't behave logically, this is most obvious by the silly ending.

Meadows admits himself it was written in a week and rushed to production without an ending. It was typical first draft British rubbish which earns no money at home and has distributers abroad openly laughing in your face when you try to sell it to them.

If we worship film-makers who can't be arsed to take scripts to a second draft and who hope the violent content alone will be enough to sell it then we don't deserve and we won't get any better.

The characters don't behave 'logically' because we don't have the whole story revealed to us at the start of the film, we slowly discover the nature of the crimes that Richard wants to avenge. I'd rather that approach than have everything spelled out to me as if I'm ten years old.

I can also say this definitely was not a first draft. It went through all kinRAB of changes, and metamorphosed from a lighter comedy to a much darker film, which drew on the lives of those who were writing it.

There wasn't much violent content imo, given the nature of the film. An American Hollywood version of this film (which I'll bet we'll see in a few years time) would have had blood splattered all over the screen, and the various gang members dispatched in as grisly a way as possible.

Best film of last year.

GREAT!!! My boyf and i are about to watch this with our sunday dinner, so i thought Id
check out what other people thought of the film.

What you just wrote best NOT be a spoiler.
