I'm lucky enough to have friends and family watch my son during the work week. 3 out of the 4 of them are VERY dependable, and the other one (who is supposed to be my best friend) is NOT. She's the one who offered to watch my son every Thursday for me while I work - she offered this back in January. She's only watched him twice since, she's backed out of everything else.
She's attempting to clean houses to get some income. She just called me and told me that she's been offered 4 more houses but if she takes them she won't be able to watch my son on Thursdays anymore... I totally understand she needs to make money and I'm not really upset about that... What I am upset about is that she wants to start doing this NOW-As in THIS week! That leaves me one day to try to find someone else so I won't miss work. And I can't take the day off this week because I had to use all my leave up for my maternity leave and my son's been sick lately.
Am I wrong for being a little upset?
By the way, my son is just 4 months old.
Thanks for the suggestion about getting help from the state... But I work for the state (in fact I work in that dept) and I make too much money to get help. But at the same time I'm a single mom who doesn't receive child support (yet....) so normal daycares probably aren't going to work for me until the support order goes thru (court date is in May).
Oh, I'm definitely not gonna end the friendship over this, it's more of the fact that I just feel like she could have given me a few days more notice, you know? And I won't be able to pay her as much as she will be able to make by cleaning these houses, so I don't blame her at all - but I would have like to have had just a little more notice, I guess. *Sigh*
