Daybreak, First Day in, Improvement?

Has Johnny Boy Stapleton done anything else for Daybreak other than that report on Farepack on the first day?

And Christine Bleakley didn't exactly appear to be 'shining' this morning. I don't think morale is currently very good at Daybreak Towers.

I said this when Daybreak launched, alot will work, alot wont, and like the Chris Evans Radio 2 Breakfast show, I expect some things will be dropped if they dont work.

Daybreak really neeRAB to get to the point where it drops the features people dont like.

When GMTV was showing I wasn't really a fan of Kate Garraway (I was a Penny person !!) but GOSH - it was soooo good to see hear this week...is she going to be presenting on the same days each week. I hope so, at least I will be able to watch then.

She and Matt were a treat to start the day with, so cheerful and upbeat.

The 'other 2' are useless.

It's one thing being able to "gain special access to meetings, and the party's movers and shakers ", it's something else to be able to commentate/present a piece to camera in an natural and relaxed style. Don't ITV have anyone more professional at presenting? How about John Stapleton?

..but did anybody in their research team actually ascertain whether anybody else BUT muffin topped TV chat reading female audience would be watching? Most people are at work by that time who might fall in to other categories. Anyway I watched GMTV and I am not a chavy, muffin topped (at least not the last time I looked) TV chat reader although I am female.

have to say it felt easier on the eye this morning. i liked kate and her interaction with dan workied well, especially the chocolate sauce, though i think dan is a good laugh he may not be strong enough for major news stories.

i wonder if ITV looks at these complaints, because i said in previous posts that the inane laughing at chiles jokes by floor crew was annoying and not warranted and it's gone quiet. :)

I have watched Daybreak now daily, and i find it very confusing. It doesnt seem to know what its supposed to be.

When Daybreak was first announced as the replacement for GMTV I thought it was meant to be more 'newspaper' like, i.e. - discussing the latest news developments and not so comic book.

But instead you have barely any guests coming on the show, you have Kate looking bashful because she has been well and truly sidelined. You have a man who throws ping pong balls in a cup. You have pictures of your breakfast, teddy's, teenagers etc.....

Its rubbish, and i personally think its inferior to GMTV. Im also getting sick of seeing Adrian and Christine every day. As someone else pointed out - at least on GMTV there was a rota of presenters.

No it doesn't, please get your facts right.
The One show gets nearly the same audience share every day of the week, no matter who presents. Less people watch tv on Fridays so raw numbers will be lower but audience share the same and as I said Fridays shows have been up year on year with Chris for the past few weeks. So your point is wrong again.

They replaced Adrian on Fridays because he struggled with the entertainment editions which were trialled last year before Christmas and which have returned with Chris, Nothing to do with ratings and if you saw Daybreak yesterday you would see he struggled and couldn't care less about the Entertainment part with Kate.

its an expensive new show, the show should have made changes after its first week, its not like the ratings were THAT impressive in the first week, there was no feeling that they had gotten it right.

I am trying to think what the costs of launching Daybreak was, and I will need to do research, but big ticket items inculde

  1. Disneys shares in GMTV
  2. Adrian
  3. Christine

Daybreak really neeRAB to be making changes by now.

I am not Chris Evans fan, but the show is better now than it was when it first started
