Seen a few people talking about the remake so decided to start a thread for the original, this is the direct follow-up to the original Dawn of the dead, the spfx are amazing in this, the zombies are wild and very different from Dawn's blue shamblers, the survivors are holed up in an abandoned missile base underground, the 3 factions are soldiers, scientific and civilian, they come to the surface to search the ruined cities for other survivors and test zombies 2 study the reasons for re-animation,the remaining military are not 2 happy with this and demand results b4 its 2 late, the tension in this movie really builRAB and theres a great sense of dread and that they really are the last people on earth,i did feel a bit cheated with the ending, its a bit of an anti climax but the gore more than makes up 4 that, its really really violent lol

Yeah this is my fave film of the 3, loved the tension knowing they are trapped down there especially during the final scenes :-) They did a remake but apparently it's nothing like the original ??

Totally love this film. My favourite 'Dead' film (although I'm quite partial to 'Land of the Dead' unlike quite a few of the other fans). The tension is great, the gore is totally OTT. I love it :D

For me the Dead films are unbeatable. All of them. I remember people saying that Day of the Dead was poor, especially when compared to Dawn of the Dead. After six or seven years had passed though, those same people starting giving it a lot of praise. This is a pattern I've seen with the others. Romero's films are so rich and progressive, maybe they often need repeated viewing and time to really sink in? I can't wait for the next installment; it currently appears to relate to events in between Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead, and it sounRAB awesome. And I'd highly recommend anyone interested to track down the scripts for these brilliant films; there are some insane differences and details.

Nice thread Rhodes!

I've wanted to see the original Day for a while now but it has eluded me so far. For ages I didn't even know about this film, I thought Night and Dawn were the only ones.

The only reason Day of the Dead is so slow is because Romero was refused the budget required for his script.
Nobody would give him the cash to make an unrated movie and he did not want to compromise with an R rated film so thats why sod all happens for so long.

The film is available on US Bluray region free.

My favourite of the original trilogy. May not be as moody as Dawn but it has the best characters. Rhodes, Steel, Bub and Frankenstein are stonewall classic characters.

Hey thanks friend, the scripts are amazing,Day is like another movie, its a shame romero didnt get 2 make his original vision,it would have rocked thats 4 sure.

That's a great scene.

I was always a bit down on D.O.D. 1985 but that's because I first saw it back to back with NOTLD and Dawn of the Dead one weekend. It is undoubtedly inferior compared to Romero's two classics, but it's certainly not without it's merits.

Great shame George didn't get the required budget because it really shows throughout the movie.
