Data roaming on T-Mobile

I've gotten conflicting answers on this, and I'd like to settle this one item: If I use data while roaming in the USA, will I be charged for it?

Not on T-Mobile - I've never been charged for roaming. Who's telling you you'll be charged?

Melissa, It's like a broken record. Didn't we just go thru this with another user? Do we have some nay-sayer out there telling everyone that they're gonna be charged for roaming on T-Mobile? (sorry for the personal comment - back to topic)

T-Mobile never charges for roaming within the US. I've spent months roaming off the home network and have never been charged.

they won't charge you for roaming now if your always more than half the time on a roamin network then they might tell you that they will cut off your line because it cost them more money if your always roaming then what there making off you. I heard some people have had this happen to.

I have a question about this also. I am travelling to Mexico for a cruise (1 week I think). I am thinking about taking either one of my BB's or picking up a prepaid phone for use. Anybody know if I will be roaming or not?

I've been on roaming for over 2 years. No extra charges.

It was in the past. I spend all the time on the home network now.



T-Mobile doesn't charge for domestic roaming. If you're out of the country, you will be charged, as far as I know.

Ok that takes care of that problem and I will follow through on my backup plan (cheap prepaid phone that I will fill up with minutes) LOL

Yeah anytime your on a cruise it is considered roaming because you actually use the ships tower. No whether or not you will be charged is up to your carrier and their policies.

If you walk into a T-Mobile store in Mexico and get a SIM card there, you will probably be OK.

To make sure, call T-Mobile now and ask.

Read up on which prepaid card to get at www.prepaidgsm.net. And get the phone unlocked before you go if you haven't. Then all should be good.

Call TMO and get the unlock code for your phone. That is what TMO told me to do.

Ok but what I was planning on doing was getting the activation kit, filling it with as many minutes as I can afford and then use those for text messaging while away and use the T-Mobile SIM. I was not planning on buying an international SIM unless it costs less to text.
