I would post this in the Apps category, but it seems to be more than one app, so I guess it's not an app issue.
When I enter data into the phone, the phone seems to delete the entry.
Example 1:
When I get an incoming call, I select the phone number under CALL LOG and add a contact. I enter the person's name and save it. For a while, the name replaces the phone number in the call log and it also appears in the contacts list. But after a minute, it reverts back to the number and the name disappears entirely from my contacts list.
Example 2:
In my contacts list, I go to Menu, Import, Import from SIM card and import all. It imports 126 contacts successfully. I see a list of familiar set of names appear in my contacts list. Then almost immediately, the top of the contacts list says "Show 135 contacts" and then it starts counting down as contacts begin disappearing from the contacts list. "Showing 96 contacts", "Showing 48 contacts", etc. I seem to have gotten around this by changing the settings to show contacts of every kind and category. But I don't really WANT 416 contacts in there just to solve this problem.
Example 3:
Calendar. This one's easy. Add an event, click done, and it appears in the events for the day view at the appropriate time. Go back one screen to the month view and the day of that event shows a little blue mark on it to indicate that it has an event. Wait a minute and stare at it. The blue dot disappears. Go into the day and there are no events. You can also watch the day view and see the event title disappear right before your eyes.
You can imagine how annoying this is. I wondered if there was some Synch setting that was causing it to remove the entries because they don't exist in the peer source, but I can only find ONE sync setting in the entire system and it doesn't affect this behavior. Furthermore, This happens when I'm not on any network. I don't have a data plan and I'm not on a WiFi network during the day when I'm using the phone.
I am running CyanogenMod 6 RC3. If I decide that this is a problem which is inherent with this OS, can I install Android 2.2 Froyo or a newer CyanogenMod without losing all the day (contacts, music, images) that I've already added to the phone? I bought the phone used and it came this way. I've done very little with it.
