For yrs I have used a Moto V325 tethered with a USB cable to my Mac for internet access. I use SmithMicro software and access the 1X National Access network, using unlimited evenings and weekend minutes on my phone plan. I would like to switch to my wife's Moto W755 since it has both 1X and EVDO capability, at least that is what the screen indicates. I tried connecting with the W755 using the same USB cable and got an error message "no USB cable connected". Any suggestions how to fix this problem or work around? If not, is there another phone that can work on both the 1X National Access network and Verizon's 3G broadband network? I would like to use the 3G network for most internet work with a data only plan, but there are times and places where it won't be available. I'm keeping the old cell phone plan due to grandfathered price and features and would really like to keep National Access in the mix. Any other phone also needs an external antenna port, again due to the remote areas we frequent.
