getting a lawyer? I just got a ticket for being in the HOV lane. The officer said he was just writing for single occupancy. It has Disregard Official Traffic Control Device: SO. And this is not a moving violation.

First YES I was in the lane, however I saw a sign that said '75 McKinney' and I got into that lane. The officer said I crossed the double white line and entered the HOV Lane. Agree, I did that.

My question and defense is: I followed the sign and it did not have HOV on the sign. I have never been down that road since the new construction.

Is it worth going to court or does the judge just say 'Ignorance is no excuse'. Secondly, is it worth getting a lawyer.

And can I take Defensive Driving? I have done this many years ago, but the cost was just as much as the ticket. And since this is not a moving violation, I don't know if that is worth it.

Finally does anyone know the amount of the fine? The office is closed, but I am anxious to know what I am on the hook for at this point.

thanks

Hiring a lawyer to fight a ticket ALWAYS costs more than paying the ticket. Unless this puts you in jeopardy of losing your license, it is not worth fighting.
