It occurred to me that the whole sonar/mobile phone thing may have been a metaphor for that recent Act that was passed allowing the government to snoop on private citizens via phone tapping?

Lucian Fox had quiet a few opinions on the ethical use of it if I recall

Note my location, I may be way off but it did cross my mind at the time

That was way too blatant, should have left it out.

I also thought that was a cheap way to find the Joker, batman is supposed to be a fucking detective, should have used some detective skills.

I'm just saying what Batman does, I am not saying if it is good or not.

Batman is a comic book character who does things that may not translate well, if at all, into the real world.

BTW though in the comics, many other superheros get pissed at batman for this kind of crap and have tried to control what does. For instance he loves to make weapons against other superheros incase they fuck with him or get out of control (superman for instance).

Bruce Wayne knows what's up and how to take care of himself.

Growing up in Gotham City with nobody but your Butler, who's name is Alfred Pennyworth, kinda turns you away from trusting anyone else. Especially someone who could just rip you in half if he got angry.

It made an excellent point about how Batman always rides the line between right and wrong, and the Joker was pushing him closer to actually crossing that line than any other villain ever could.

I noticed it, but I didn't think it was out of place. I don't think Nolan was trying to proselytize or anything, I think it was just within Fox's character to say that. The first thing I thought of when he unveiled it was that Fox wouldn't like it.

is it just me or would have sonar not worked the way they showed in the movie.

you can use sonar to find surfaces and stuff but in situations like when it's in that little drawer, it wouldn't be able to 'see' everything outside the drawer with sonar...

You're also forgetting the political message about the Iraq War. Batman has to do what's right, even if it means great sacrifice and personal loss, to stop unrelenting mad men from destroying society.

AKA, Cowboy Bush waging war against the Jihading middle easterners, despite political opposition and deaths of US soldiers.
