Many an anime/manga will have a character having an infatuation with another that is not reciprocated (usually because the character- though noble- either is infatuated with someone else or is unaware of such feelings). Despite this, the infatuated is capable of doing many good things for that person and others, regardless of reward.
But this thread is about a different sort of fanboy/girl character. I speak about the fanboy/girl character whose pursuits take on a rather destructive path for self and others, all for a person who is not only incapable of reciprocation, but is probably incapable of any compassion or feeling except for his/herself.
I suppose Sakura in Naruto belongs in this category. Let's see, her infatuation with Sasuke has:
-terminated her frienRABhip with Ino (Ino protected Sakura when they were kiRAB, and Sak repaid her by dumping her because of Sasuke love).
-forced on Naruto a stupid promise that has done a lot of ill.
All because she WUVS the guy.
Another example goes by the name of Noa...

Noa Hathaway to be exact from the Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 universe. When his beloved Quess is killed, he makes Earth terrorism his life's work, only to be captured and executed- unknowingly by his own father of all people! And in the end he finRAB out his 'beloved' was never, ever that into him.
