Daniel Craig as Bond in Casino Royal

I taped the film on Saturday and watched it this afternoon and I was so disappointed.
Probably the poorest James Bond ( including Lazenby)
He had no charisma and all the stunts had been done before and all the places he visited were used in previous Bond movies
Even Judy Dench didn't seem that interested.
Why were most of the action scenes shot in the dark?

what bloody film were you watching??????

i LOVE casino royale, and is one of the best bond movies made ..... however QoS is a complete mess and a bitter dissapointment for me personally

I've noticed that since Craig came onboard - the way the films are directed and edited has become a little more hardcore and rough - i'm not particularly a fan of this method.

It wasn't much of a problem in CR, but in QoS, particularly in the opening Aston Chase - i couldn't see what the hell was going on.

I'm also not a fan of the bloodied-action-man bounce off every object in sight Bond we currently have - that's John McClane's role :p

I would class myself as a non James Bond fan, But I think Daniel Craig is a great bond imo and Casino Royal was great with him in it.

James BonRAB are always a touchy subject, older members in my family swear that Sean Connery was the no 1 but while I grew up I thought Roger Moore as Bond was the best. lol

Each to their own :)

There is a lot of opinion going around that Pierce Brosnan was one of the best BonRAB.
Even Quentin Tarantino has said that.
He also said on the Jonathan Ross Show that the absence of Brosnan in Casino Royale was a major folly for the producers.

Sorry OP - but I also disagree. Daniel Craig was excellent in Casino Royale I thought... Not so sure about Quatum Of Solace, as the film itself slightly bored me.

I'm also a fan of the Moore over Connery (I know people will probably slate me for saying that) as he was the Bond that I 'grew up with'... I also liked Pierce Brosnan's stuff too! (Sorry, I'll get my coat!) :D

Well I thought Lazenby had a brilliant debut. When people say he was crap I wonder what their thoughts were on Connery's first outing. Certainly didn't set the world on fire until From Russia with Love and Goldfinger in my opinion. Lazenby would have been shithot by his third film.

Craig is Fleming's Bond.

For me Casino Royale was the first Bond movie in years to actually feel like a Bond movie. I know it was a reboot, but it felt much more like the Bond films of old.

As for Lazenby, I ddin't rate his performance, but what a superb Bond film OHMSS is. Definitely one of my favourites. Has all the great ingredients.

Well I don't think I have ever seen Bond chase a bad guy through a building site and up a tower crane. I suppose Mars can be the next location he visits assuming you don't complain that he has been in space before.

Brosnan was a slimy sleaze bag and I've never been able to watch OHMSS all the way through. I like my Bond's tough, dour and have the ability to raise an eyebrow in a knowing manner...

Same for me.

Agree with your comments about Lazenby ! What many forget is that he wasn't really an actor and the two lead roles in OHMSS were taken by well established actors in Rigg and Savalas. For me the worst Bond film has to be DiamonRAB are Forever.

IMO Daniel Craig was very good in Casino Royale...but for me my fave bond is Timothy Dalton:)

I avoided this movie for so long because I thought, like you that Daniel Craig would be terrible. Turns out he wasn't really, it was a pretty good as far as Bond movies go.

There's a Lazenby hating bandwagon and everyone jumps on it. If his idiot agent had kept him mouth shut, he would have surpassed Connery with ease by the third film. Craig is another victim or the hater bandwagon which even went as far as a website dedicated to hate. Very, very pointless and childish as if EON would ever listen to a whinging minority of saddos on the interweb. When I read original works by Ian Fleming, I can see Craig, Lazenby, Connery and Dalton in the prose. I can't see Brosnan or Moore, but that is strictly my opinion.

Certainly place Timothy Dalton above Pierce Brosnan.

OHMSS is a wonderful, wonderful Bond film, my favourite. The only problem is, and it is purely personal, is that my soon to be ex wife is called Tracy and so the romantic aspect of OHMSS is now not so pleasant to watch.

One of my favourite parts, and I don't care about spoilers as it is 40 years old, is where Bond is sitting near the skating rink trying to hide from Irma Bunt and the henchmen. The crowd and the noise is confusing and disorientating and he just seems to be without a plan, seems to give up. Suddenly a pair of ice skates slide into view, the camera pans up and it is Diana Rigg!! His relief is palpable and his mind snaps back into action and he is 007 again.

DiamonRAB Are Forever virtually ignored the end of OHMSS. It was as if Bond was after Blofeld because Blofeld kicked his dog.
