Dance in the Vampire Bund talkback

This would one of the few new shows I was looking forward too. This was a rather odd start to the show but its an interesting start.

I haven't seen a tv show in a tv show intro for an anime before

Looks like the real fun will have to wait till next week.

And no, it was not a blood sucking Loli fest. So at least give it a try.

See, I was gonna wait until next week to start a talkback because I'm pretty sure the show isn't like this normally but noooooo

So, yeah, that was....interesting. A lot of fan reactions are negative or mixed if they've read the manga which is good for me since I was planning to read the manga after it was finished given that this is only 12 freaking episodes. I was very confused by what was going on but then I was like "Oh, that's right, it's SHAFT." I found it very enjoyable once the gecko vampire (?) showed up and blood got involved.

And how has that pop idol not heard of Vampire Knight?

So I see Mina is ripping off Lelouch with her introduction there.

Knowing SHAFT, something tells me they're already are anticipating a second season.

Interesting...first episode, to say the least. The animation felt very un-SHAFT-ish until Mina first appeared, in which I said "Why does she look like a Pani Poni Dash character?"

I know SHAFT was trying to do something unorthodox (even though their last project was freaking Bakemonogatari) to begin a series (then again, Hidamari Sketch's second season premiere was full of this, as well, by randomly putting sentences in the middle of the screen for 2 seconRAB), but maybe that's to be expected of them.

Oh, and it had an omake at the end, and in the background, an annoying trait from SHAFT is used--randomly using images of the original manga, which is done in a majority of their shows, to what? Please the fans? How? It was even used on the opening of the second Hidamari Sketch and the Maria Holic anime also used it, mostly because the animatos seemed lazy. I remeraber that the whole "images from the manga" thing was used as a joke on Pani Poni Dash a few times.

Maybe that's it. See, I think Shaft liked the surreal-ness of Pani Poni Dash so much, that they're actually taking that surreal-ness to pretty much every other show they do. That's my guess, though...

-Love the OP. Fits the show well.

-I liked the first episode but this was a lot better. Really consistent animation throughout which is a nice treat coming off shows that tend to lose it after the first episode. Spider Vampire was....weird but after the gecko vampire last episode, I'm just gonna get used to it. I had to watch it a second time to see what happened but I kinda double-taked at Akira slicing the spider in half.

-I haven't read the manga (definitely will after this is over though) but I guess I'm glad that it's not following it considering that it's still ongoing and we wouldn't want SHAFT to leave off at some random point would we? If they're gonna do their own thing and the product comes out good, I'd rather we have that then a made up ending that completely kills how much we enjoy it.

-The omake preview was hi-larious. "Who wants some fresh werewolf cuts?"

Grurable. No point comparing the Anime to the Manga since its already seems they are going to be quite different.

They could have follow the manga ended it after certain arcs which would have close the story pretty well. Instead we get this.....

Edit: So the OP has her dancing....somehow I should have seen that coming. Not to mention this OP is pedorific.

So, they'll go for the "kinda close to the manga" appoach. Are there any examples of this?

In fact, maybe it makes sense to have an original story, mostly because the manga is currently at 7 or so volumes in Japan, and SHAFT could only get 12 episodes.

Ah, the infamous Pedo Lotion rubbing scene.....of all things they had to keep that.

It was an ok episode. But so far theres nothing really special about this show.

I was expecting to watch ep 3 of Vampire Bund but somehow I instead got a lost school episode of Code Geass....

Wait, that was Vampire Bund? *slaps forehead*

Was any of that in the manga or are the anime writers fond of that one CG ep where Lelouche is being chased around the school? I do like that new vampire who found Akira's phone. Wonder what Mina will do if she learns someone is eying her man? Also DAWWWWWWWW at Akira teasing her and making her blush. And is it RIP for the Student Body Prez or is she going to come back with a more... favorable stance on vampires in the school?

While there's some differences the anime does seem to follow most of the key plot points of the manga so

yes she'll turn into a vampire

Oh hey, it's that episode of Code Geass that everybody hates!

I liked the politic-screwover that Mina did in the middle of the episode. We should have more of that.

Still am very glad that I didn't read the manga cause I'm sure I would hate this otherwise like the rest of the internet. I think it's relatively okay so far. But seriously though, it's 12 episodes. We were either going to get some of the story or an original one.

...I'll be glad to remain outside of that "everybody" then, thank you very much.

In fact, I would argue it was one of the funnier school episodes but providing any further elaboration would be terribly off-topic here.

So...I'd love to comment on the actual show involved, but I'm not watching it. That may or may not change later though.

Mina made an offer to that girl that she coudln't refuse--wait, she refused? Well, I knew she was pretty much screwed as soon as she refused it.

It kinda felt like The Godfather...with vampires. I just hope the show doesn't get too involved in politics.

I also just realized that Shaft isn't pulling an "Ef - A Tale Of Memories" by going all mind**** with the visuals. I'm sure you remeraber that, Garfield15.
