I'm 17 and will be going to college soon. Recently my dad has started bugging me about joining the Coast Guard to pay for college, which I think is funny because he makes $142,000 a year and could easily pay for it without me having to sign away 4-8 years of my life. I was just wondering if there was a legal reason why he wants me to join the military when I turn 18 and go to college so badly. Is he required by law to pay a part of my education or something? I was just curious because my parents are divorcing and my mom is a stay at home mom, and I'm more on my moms side, so if my dad doesn't give me any money for college I'm not really sure what I'll do.
