I finished reading Cyrano de Bergerac, and I'm supposed to write an essay on it that analyzes the main theme of the book. I recognize several themes of the book, and I'm not quite sure how to tie it all together. I recognize the conflicts we face between inner and outer beauty, the willingness to let ones self suffer to preserve the wishes of a friend, the danger of deception, etc., but I don't feel I understand what the main theme is.
Any help, please?
Oh, and also, how did reading this book affect you? I'm just curious about this one. I thought it was excellent.
