Cycling my fish tank? Is this normal?

I have a 56G fish tank that I plan on having friendly fish in. I was wondering is the cycling process is going by normally? When I added some fish (live bearing fish and one cardinal tetra) my ammonia spiked--like it's suppose to-- to 10.0ppm, none of my fish died, but one guppy, and it's been 2 weeks and my ammonia is now at .5.0 roughly and nitrite at 5.0 and nitrate at 15-20ppm. is this going by like it's suppose to? my pH is at 7.4, and everything else is normal.

btw I know Cardinal tetras are very weak but my friend's tank cracked and all her fish died besides one cardinal and she gave it to me. I had to put it in. I thought it would have died but it has not! It must be REALLY hardy for a cardinal. She threw away he filter and everything so i was mad about that because I could have used it, but, too late.

Anyway, is everything looking good? (I know the water is crap now, but is it looking good for a cycling tank?) Any advice will help me a lot.

Get to me soon!

Either way, I have some right-now bacteria arriving in the mail tomorrow, so that will help a bunch, cycle and bio-zymes aren't strong enough. I'll use those when my tank is cycled and i do H2O changes. Anyway, help me out!

Thanks a bunch!
