okay i have a new 5 gallon tank that i would like to cycle without putting any fish in there... i plan to put a betta in it once the process is done.. and apparently the only way to cycle a fishless tank is add ammonia yourself..my question is how do i do this? is there something i can buy at the store? also some resources are saying to do weekly water changes during this cycling, while others say not to do any at all. im greatly confused by all this, soo if someone could give me a straight-forward answer to these questions, it would be great. i am a first time fish owner, so im trying to learn as much as i can. i do have friends that are experienced fish owners, but i would like the opinions of others as well. here are the questions:

*How do I add ammonia myself to help it cycle?
*Do I need to do water changes weekly, or should I do none at all?
*Also what do I do about the Ph? If it starts to drop, should I just let it until it cycles, or should I do something about it?

Any experienced or educated answers would be appreciated. Thanks!

Everything in it, natural bacteria, even water testing can be done at your local petsmart, they test the water there for free as well and can help you set up everything.
