Custom Android Config

Hi All,

I've been looking for something on how to roll out android phones in an enterprise environment for a few days now (off and on) and surprisingly i can't find anything on it.

My company is slowly moving over to the Android platform and one of the things we'd possibly like to do is institute a standard configuration on the phones before we give them to our users. More or less this would involve some settings changes to conserve power and also the installation of a few applications from the Market, nothing too drastic.

Is anyone aware of anything that could do this for us? Even part of it would be helpful.

thanks in advance,

John

Hi Johnnash, and welcome to the AC forums. Some of the backup apps, for example My Backup Pro, can backup "System Settings" and applications. You could maybe set all the settings and apps up on one phone, make a backup, copy the backup files off the SD card to a PC, copy the backup from the PC to all your other phones, then restore the backup on the other phones.

This has a few problems though...

You'd have to pay for a copy of My Backup Pro on each phone.

I don't know what settings it backs up.

While it can restore apps, it doesn't restore the settings for those apps - it will be like you've freshly installed the applications.

Maybe you could make a img file yourself, with standard settings and some standard apps, and flash every phone using this img file before selling.
