Current for car charger (Palm Treo Pro - Sprint)?

I have a Palm Treo Pro from Sprint. The standard AC/usb charger from Palm is a 1A charger, and I typically use that over the computer USB ports to charge because it charges quicker and frees up my ports.

Now that I'm driving more, I want to charge in the car, especially since I have bluetooth on and 30minute email sync intervals.

I bought the Sprint Car Charger (ebay) rated at 0.85A out (I calculated about 0.33A as the input current, assuming the Watts are conserved). However, when I tested the input on the car charger, it was taking 0.57A in, which means it's giving my phone 1.4A (assuming still 5V). However, the light on the charger flickers (though the current is constant). Is this charger ok, or is that too much current?

I have a generic usb/car charger from an ipod accessory kit, with a rated output of max 1A. When I measured it, it was only taking in 0.15A, or 400ma output.

Are either of these ok, or should I just buy a Palm car adapter and call it a day?
