Curious to see, does anyone really knows how the "cops eating donuts" stereotype began?

I love the way police get picked on and torn apart, usually by those who got caught (or their boyfriend/cousin/brother etc.) doing something wrong and illegal. I find for some reason, it is NOT usually, the ones that call begging for help.Anyway, they are just so unoriginal and they always resort back to the "donut" insults, so it made me wonder, WHY? Let's hear some answers.
@ I came to sing...I don't know what you mean by "questions like this" this is my first time in this area. I am NOT doing this for any other reason than to see what people think. I highly respect police officers and the job they do. I don't know what you mean by 100 points and if you must know, I think it is because as someone wrote, the hours they keep, there really isn't anything else OPEN at 4 in the morning, so they go and get coffee ( maybe with or without) a freakin donut. Maybe you shouldn't be so swift in trying to belittle people.
