Curious about the Military/Help Please?

I am thinking of joining the military. I am a single 20 year old male so i am not married and i dont have kids. My question is if I join the military does my family get any benefits. I mean i know that there not the ones joining the military I am but I mean if something happens to me when deployed or anything like that will the military help my family or does my family get any benefits out of it? Thanks for any help/advice you can give me! I was just curious and thought i would ask
