Cupcake for Australia?

I bought my HTC Dream unlocked not through Optus (Australia's Dream/G1 provider) and am running it on the Virgin mobile network
I'm just wondering if anyone knows if I'll be able to get updates with my current setup or would I have to either move to Optus for them or manually update?
Not worried about when the update will be, I just want to know if I'll have to put in any work when it does come around
Loving the Dream at the moment and can't wait for it to get improvements

If you are running the stock firmware then yes you will get the update over the air. You wont need to do a thing except wait for it. If you have rooted your phone and are not running a stock firmware or a version of the ADP firmware you will need to manually update.

Anyone know what Virgin mobile is like in Australia? The deals look alright from their website but I don't know if their coverage/reception is good. Has anyone tried their services? any feedback would be great.
