Interesting quote...not going to pretend that I can come up with an equally appropriate interpretation, but I'm always unconvinced by the way we calculate our levels of civilisation, and am totally bewildered about what cultural endeavours we value. For me it is all about perception. Is civilisation advancing, increasing, arguable!
