very well put. actually, looking at it makes me want to puke, but...

i've never seen donnie darko. my husband has, though, and he liked it.

cult films? i love rocky horror picture show, "i'm just a sweet transvestite, from transsexual, transylvainia-haha."

what about the movie 'oscar' w/sly stallone? i love that one too, the finucci bros. had me in stitches.

I completely agree with you! Which is why pretty much every time you mention a film I haven't heard of, it goes straight on my netflix queue... So thank you for being here and bringing new films into my life

I was actually just talking to a friend of mine about cult movies, and then I found this thread (heh). Anyway, my all-time favorite is Now and Then. Coming-of-age films don't get much better than that.

the reason i've liked little films such 'wristcutters'...'afterlife'...and 'last night' is because they've all original in concept.......i've also just noticed that there all about death....'afterlife'...and 'last night' are "thinking" types of movies....what would i do?....probably some would find 'afterlife' to be rather boring and slow...but the idea behind it so original imo to overcome any faults that it might have...the same could be said for all of these films.....how often does something really new and different, in regards to movie themes, really come along?.....

one of my favorites....because it's one of the most interesting films i've ever seen in a theater.......and one of the few i've covered my eyes with my hands while watching.....

'dans ma peau (in my skin) in french with english subtitles.....

a movie about self-mutilation & self-cannibalism......

My fav cult movie is Grease 2
It is sooooo bad I consider it good cheese.

My friends and I sing the songs and point out our favorite extras

talk about non-stop action, i loved the 5th element. i've always been a huge fan of Milla Jovocovich. I thought it was cool that she ended up saving humanity.

Thanks a lot for that link, Chris!

I remember watching Heather when younger but I have no idea what the movie was about. :lol All I know about its because I've read it around. Hehe.

My favorites would include Heathers, Freaks, Evil Dead, Dawn of the Dead (1978), Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, Clerks and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974).

There is also an Entertainment Weekly list of the 50 Greatest Cult Films of all time located here

I'll putting those both on my netflix queue right now :gone:

Well damn it! wandâfuru raifu is there but Last Night isn't :pout:

Go is definally one of my favorites.

But my main one is probably The Rules Of Attraction. And not just because it's my favorite movie ever. I consider it a cult movie, well it's different from a lot of others. It has a broad fanbase. I mean people love Roger Avary (Director of Rules of Attraction) cause he co-wrote Pulp Fiction And people love Bret Easton Ellis who not only wrote Rules of Attraction but also American Psyco, another cult classic.

Is The Breakfast Club considered a cult movie?

2 of my favorite cult films from a few years back....both of these films have the central theme of death......both of these films were seen in a theater....

'wandâfuru raifu' (afterlife) 1998....by one of my favorite directors, hirokazu koreeda...in japanese with english subtitles...

if you could take one and only memory of your life on earth to heaven with you, what would that memory be?

'last night' also from 1998...a very small canadian film with some of canada's best actors.....among them sarah polley, david cronenberg, sandra oh and don mckellar...

the worlds going to end in 6 hours....what would you do with those last few hours?...who would you spend that time with, if anybody?

Tis sure is an interesting topic, i guess i started an interesting thread,

I dont like to look at star wars as a cult just a movie with a HUGE fan club and to some people they call star wars a Relgion lol, i like to think of the underground following of the fans of more less mainstream movies

Serenity is my favourite cult movie. Being a huge fan of Firefly (the TV show that came before it), I was always going to inevitably love it, but I know that upon its original release the movie didn't do as well as hoped in the box office. But the fans (I include myself in this) are a dedicated and obsessive bunch, and we've kept the love and appreciation going, through meet-ups and get-togethers but specifically through the Can't Stop The Serenity charity screenings, and by generally trying to spread the word where-ever we can. And it works!

If that's not a cult movie, I don't know what is :P
