" Background Information>>"....I am a middle aged single woman. I have worked most of my adult life in the food industry in some area or another. Bakery was the hardest. I was going to try something unrelated... towards attending school for Esthetician..to work in a Day Spa.. however.. reading many blogs.. many are not finding work. The school cost 10 grand.. and you work on straight commission, It takes years they say to build a client book.. and I wouldn't be able to go it alone .. until I get enough money and clients to do so. Besides that.. not finding work may help me to go homeless.lol..Well.. could. The Spas expect you to bring in all the work.. and yet..your not allowed to bring the clients with you when you leave. I thought this would be less strenuous work physically on me and my body.. however.. if I can't find work or much of it.. the school won't want to wait for re paying the loan that long. This woman in CA said on a Spa Blog.. that she can't find work and wish she never did it now.. because she is in debt. However.. I read that the spa industry has not been affected that much or hard yet. But.. that must mean those already in it.. not recent grads.. At a Community College here .. they have a program for one year for a food production or prep.. towards becoming a cook, assistant cook or grill cook.. When I worked at a hotel these people made a decent.. wage and received benefits.. working nights .. is good because I am a night owl.. I would have a steady stream of income.. which would allow me to continue my schooling during the days.. for an associates in Culinary. What do you all think .. why / why not?

Also.. They say food and medical are the two main areas in any recession that would never suffer because people need both areas ... and food is a necessity.. luxury services are not..

Should I not allow my middle age to deter me? I love to cook.. I am a foodie.. I am a good cook.
