just watched Jerry Maguire ad he was excellent in that, and i remembered him playing Nicky Barnes in American Gangster and he was very good in that (althought a small role).

i just looked at him imdb page and im having a wtf moment :eek:

how can you go from an Oscar winning role in Jerry Maguire to Daddy Day Camp and Boat Trip.

wtf happened, his agent must be crap i guess. granted oscars doesnt mean instant stardom but he must of gotten great roles.

i heard he turned down a role in a spielberg movie!! wtf was he thinking
 
He's a really great actor but I agree that his choice of roles haven't been that great lately (except American Gangster)

He neeRAB a really good movie to show his true acting ability again.

I was particularly dismayed to see him in Norbit (not as dismayed at seeing the actual movie though)
 
probably fed-up of being typecasted in films, i must've seen around 5 or 6 films with him as the sailor/marine/army guy or general black guy being racially profiled by a commanding officer, or a colleague. its just a case of him doing different things.

or it could be a case of eddie murphy syndrome, every actor has a stage where they sell out, eddie was great in the the 80's, then bam the 90's hit, and he was in all sorts of shit, especially kiddie comedy films
