crying complaining ex boyfriend?

i was completely in love with this boy we dated for 4 months but knew eachother way before we started dating. and he treated me really bad. he cheated tons. i gave him another chance but just after the 7th day i caught him in a lie, and he was already cheating. i ignore all of his calls now, always. but he just called me from a private # and i answered. i didn't want to hang up on him because he sounded upset. all of a sudden, he starts crying and talking about his girlfriend who doesn't believe him and bla bla bla.it just confuses me because we haven't been apart that long, and i dont see how he can be that attached to some-one already. but if he is so attached to her why is he calling me complaining about her? he mentioned some-one telling him that i wanted to give him another chance. i told him flat out NO. i never told anyone that. i still have feelings for him, but he confuses me so much, what should i do about him? and why did he do this? and should i help him out or comfort him? im a nice person and i love to help people, but i don't want to end up falling for his games again? help?
